Kae Matsumoto(aka.Kae M Black) is a composer, orchestrator and keyboardist based in Los Angeles. She has worked in the US, Japan, Hong Kong and other many music scenes.

She was born in Japan and started to learn piano/composition from a very early age. She was one of the first generation of Yamaha music students - a system of music education her father co-founded.

Kae made her debut as a professional composer/orchestrator in the 1980's by arranging the program pieces for the New York Philharmonic's Japan Tour. After that, she worked on numerous projects in Japan, including working for Academy Award-winning composer Ryuichi Sakamoto.

Some of Kae's major works include the Japanese animated film, "Summer Wars", the Brazilian feature film "Corações Sujos" the Sony PlayStation online game "Resident Evil Outbreak" and Japan's most famous comedy-action movie 'Bayside Shakedown", among many others. Orizuru (2015) that Kae scored was screened at the United Nations headquarters and presented to President Obama at the White House.

Legendary Keyboardist/composer Keith Emerson became her mentor after hearing her performance. She was asked to play his last solo piece at the Keith Emerson Tribute Concert at the El Rey Theater, also was honored to perform Emerson's composition pieces at the Saban Theater in Los Angeles.

Recently. Kae won "Best Original Score" for "Erwin" at the 2021 St. Kilda Film Festival in Australia and a DVD/CD of the Keith Emerson Tribute Concert was released in March 2021.
