Jeff Beal
JEFF BEAL is a composer with a genre-defying musical fluidity. His film scores have received critical acclaim, while he remains a respected composer in the concert, theater and dance worlds. Beal’s evocative score and theme for the Netflix drama House of Cards received four Emmy Award nominations, and recently won a second for outstanding score, bringing Beal’s Emmy tally to nineteen nominations and five statues. Other lauded series include HBO’s “Carnivale” & “Rome”, and “Monk” (USA) Film scores feature dramas “Pollock” and “Appaloosa”, and documentaries “Blackfish” and “Queen of Versailles.” Commissions include works for the Los Angeles Master Chorale, Brooklyn Youth Chorus, Smuin Ballet, and Grammy winning guitarist Jason Vieaux. As a conducter he has lead the National Symphony, Boston Symphony, LA Chamber, and Netherlands Radio Orchestras in performances of his works. As a film composer he has collaborated with directors Oliver Stone, David Fincher, Rob Reiner, and Al Pacino. His most recent classical recording, “The Paper Lined Shack” features Hila Plittman, Leonard Slatkin, and the new Hollywood String Quartet. His most recent film is “Raymond and Ray” starring Ethan Hawke, Ewan McGregor, written and directed by Rodrigo Garcia.
